Celebrations were in order at a Liskeard supermarket as three local good causes received funding.

The Liskeard and Looe Foodbank, the Liskerrett Community Centre and IMPACT (a project for adults with learning disabilities at Greenbank Church) received a share of £7,108.

Members of the Co-op have been supporting the three charitable causes through the use of their membership cards in store; from every £1 spent on own-brand items, a penny is donated.

The current community benefit scheme began at the start of April and the three groups set to gain funding in the latest round are the Liskerrett Nursery and Preschool, Creative Relaxation sessions for children and young people run by the Methodist Church Family Worker, and the Liskeard and Looe Foodbank.

The three organisations have already gained £600 each over the past four weeks, said Co-op employee Sandra Mitchell.
