FUND-RAISERS have come to the relief of their parish – by unveiling a ‘holy throne’.

A composting toilet was officially opened on Sunday (October 22) by Cllr Phil Hallworth, Vice Chair of Duloe Parish Council, at the parish church of All Saints.

The parish church at Herodsfoot has worked hard to become more of a community centre and last year saw all kinds of social occasions including skittles nights, a curry evening and even a pop-up pub.

A major problem was less than adequate toilet facilities – but that is no longer a problem after the installation of the disabled access composting toilet.

The Reverend Peter Bellenes, the rector of All Saints, was delighted to welcome Cllr Hallworth to cut the ribbon and officially open what has already been dubbed ‘The Holy Throne’ by churchwarden Ian Gordon.

Grateful thanks were paid to Glen Jubb (pictured with Cllr Hallworth) who, said Mr Bellenes, ‘did such a wonderful job in installing the toilet and building the structure to accommodate it’.

Thanks were also given to the parish council for their help in funding it, various trust funds for their grants, and especially to the Friends of Herodsfoot who raised a third of the costs.
