Caradon leader Eric Lewis, is to present free bags of sports equipment to seven local primary schools. The presentation takes place at Brunel Primary School, Saltash on Wednesday March 8 at 4.30 in the school hall.
Funding for this equipment has been secured from the Lottery Sports Fund by Caradon's Recreation Development Section working in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust through Community Delivery of the TOP programmes.
The TOP programmes are an exciting and ambitious initiative, being delivered jointly by the English Sports Council and Youth Sport Trust.
The programmes are co-ordinated nationally and delivered by local authorities.
They provide better quality sporting opportunities for 4-18 year olds in a planned and co-ordinated way. Community Delivery enables local authorities to support schools to develop after school/ lunchtime activities using TOP Play/BT TOP Sport.
This ensures that all young people are offered opportunities to continue with TOP Play/BT TOP Sport outside the curriculum and integrates those youngsters who wish to move into clubs in the area.
The TOP Programmes offer quality training opportunities and bags of child friendly sports equipment and activity cards.
Schools who will receive the bags include Braddock C of E, Looe primary, Duloe C of E and Upton Cross Primary.
