Families are enjoying free activities and food as a summer initiative to help local people gets underway.
The Real Junk Food Project (RJFP) is working together with several organisations in Liskeard during August to plug the gap where free school meals would normally be provided.
The sessions are also the chance for young children and families to socialise and take part in games, crafts and workshops.
‘Our first event at the Liskerrett Centre went really well and we fed more than 50 people,’ said Jess Sneyd of RJFP.
‘We want to let everyone know that we’ll be there in the town on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout most of the school holiday, and there’s no need to book, you can just come along.’
The sessions will take place in August as follows:
Mondays and Wednesdays at Liskeard School and Community College: games, crafts and lunch from 11am – 1.30pm, contact Helen on 07866007958.
Fridays at Liskeard Wesley Church Hall: clay, crafts and mindfulness workshops and lunch from 10am – 1pm, contact Jess on 07510138595.
Fridays at the Liskerrett Centre: activities and food at the Lyskerrys Youth Club from 5.15 – 7.15pm, contact Karen on 07833141671.
St Martin’s Church is also offering lunch after its regular stay and play session on Tuesdays from 12 noon – 2pm during the school holiday.
