Traffic proposals
for Fowey roads
ADDITIONAL traffic restrictions have been proposed for Fowey following concerns raised by local residents.
These proposals include introducing a 'no right turn' from Daglands Road into Lostwithiel Street, the alternative being turning around at the junction of Windmill, and then travelling back down to Lostwithiel Street.
It is also proposed to extend the no waiting at any time restriction on part of St Fimbarrus Road and to impose an access restriction on Town Quay, Market Street, Webb Street and Trafalgar Square.
Access will still be maintained for vehicles wishing to load and unload or gain access to off-street parking areas.
In order to protect the junctions of Langurtho Road/Polvillion Road and Park Road/Polvillion Road it is suggested that a short length of 'no waiting at any time' is introduced to ease the flow of traffic.
The proposals have been put forward by Cornwall county council following consultation with Fowey town council, local organisations and Restormel officers.
Plan for a
parking bay
CARADON councillors were due last night (Thursday), to discuss a plan to construct a parking bay at 70 Fore Street, Polruan.
The proposal, by Mrs S Tappin, is to create an access to School Lane with the construction of an elevated hardstanding.
The report by planning officers said the existing stone wall, which forms a hard edge to School Lane will be repaired and the loss of a small section will not be materially significant.
A stability report has been requested from the applicant due to concerns from an objector, and officers requested to last night's planning control committee (west), that delegated powers are granted to approve the application subject to the receipt of a satisfactory structural report.
