Vent plan for
former shop
A PLAN for a former shop at the junction of The Esplanade, Fowey, with Lostwithiel Street, is to be discussed by Restormel councillors next week.
The application, by Nelson Securities (UK) Ltd, is for the installation of the top of a drier vent through the lift shaft roof, and the change of the side window to the door.
The scheme would introduce a high tumble drier vent at the rear of the building, in conjunction with a plan for the basement area to be used as a staffed laundry.
The application will be discussed by the borough's planners on November 21. Members will also debate a plan by D G Lewarne to part demolish 16a St Fimbarrus Road, Fowey, and replace with a new conservatory.
Bedroom proposal
PLANS recently discussed by members of Restormel's conservation area advisory panel included a plan to alter and extend Seaweed Cottage, Readymoney Cove, Fowey to create a fourth bedroom.
Other proposals debated by the panel included those to change the use of a store room at 28 Fore Street, Lostwithiel to retail; and erect a greenhouse at The Haven, Fowey.
Councillors also looked at the scheme to redevelop the former Great Western railway yard at Lostwithiel to form 43 apartment/houses incorporating commercial facilities within the houses.
Quotations
for repairs
QUOTATIONS for repair work to Fowey parish church have been obtained, with the parochial church council accepting the lowest of these which was £34,200 (excluding VAT and fees).
This covers work in the main body of the church, and the muniment room, but not the large window in the south aisle.
Work is expected to start at the beginning of the week and is likely to take about 11 weeks.
Trouble with
the traffic
SOUTH East Cornwall MP, Colin Breed, joined parents and staff at St Winnow primary school, Lostwithiel yesterday afternoon (Thursday) - to see for himself the problems and dangers faced by fast flowing traffic on the main A390.
Mr Breed said both parents and teachers are calling for action to slow traffic along the road.
He said: 'There is a 40 mile per hour speed limit further down the hill, nearer Lostwithiel, but no speed restriction alongside the school.
The children also have to walk along a narrow path at the edge of the road. It is quite clear that this is an accident just waiting to happen.'
