Tony's wildlife contribution
Fowey artist, Tony Forrest, has been chosen by the Halcyon Gallery to be a part of a wildlife and conservation 1999 exhibition at the international convention centre in Birmingham.
Tony's pictures of tigers will spearhead a nationwide initiative as part of a 'Living Art' exhibition next month. Tony specialised in technical illustration at art college and set up business in this area three years later. He had recognition from Christies auctioneers with the sale of a major painting depicting a Siberian tiger in 1998.
Tony Forrest and 16 other artists are supporting an initiative in aid of the Sumatran tiger, sponsored by the charity Fauna and Flora International (FFI). Tony said of his work: 'On a recent trip to Zambia, our camp was right on the edge of a river with stunning sunsets each night. I thrive on exciting images like these. It is therefore incumbent upon me to help preserve our natural environment. This exhibition and workshop will in some small way raise awareness and funds and do some good.'

Cornish way in the valley
Restormel councillors have been told of latest proposals to extend a cycle trail between Prideaux and Luxulyan to form part of the Cornish Way.
The new route would promote the link between the Eden site and the Luxulyan valley which already existed on public roads.
Councillors have also been told an officer from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust has made a preliminary study of the valley looking for signs of otters.
Diamond occasion
Mary and Geoff Webster of Fowey have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
