This year’s programme for the annual Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature has been announced. The festival has undergone a slight name change this year from the Fowey Festival of Words and Music as it was felt ‘Arts and Literature’ better reflects what the event is all about. Due to take place in various locations around the port between Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 14, the festival will once again feature a diverse range of authors, speakers, musicians and artists. The line-up for this year’s eight-day event includes Lord Waldegrave, Robin Ellis, Sir Vince Cable, Ann Widdecombe, Martin Bell, Patrick Gale, Prue Leith, Mitch Tonks, Mitch Benn and John Suchet, among many others. Building on last year’s innovation of using the Royal Fowey Yacht Club as the festival café and Waterstones bookshop, the site will now also incorporate the festival box office. The Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature promises a varied selection of events, ranging from a creative writing course to talks and panel discussions and musical evenings. There will also be a choir workshop followed by a performance. Daphne du Maurier events and workshops and the successful Fowey Art Trail will all be back, and organisers say the latter will be bigger and better than before.
