On the eve of the eclipse, Dobwalls travelled to Roche, an East Cornwall Premier League side for a pre-season friendly. Both sides battled hard and there was very little to choose between them. However, the visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark when a clinical finish by Martin Polatch ended a slick move. The score remained the same at the break, although both sides had created chances.
At the beginning of the second half, Dobwalls had a number of good opportunities to extend their lead, although they squandered them all and eventually allowed their opponents to force their way back into the match. The play switched from end to end with both sides coming close. With the full time whistle looming, Richard Ralph levelled with a first-time shot that Karl Roberts could only parry, the ball spinning off his body and into the net. Just after the restart the referee blew to signal full time.
The game was played in a competitive by good-spirited nature, and was a treat for the crowd with both sides playing some exciting football. A number of players made significant contributions for Dobwalls, but the Man of the Match award went to stand-in captain Mark Fielder who dominated at the back for the Duchy Premier side.
