In a far from one sided game Dan Ruark (2), Alex Istead (2), and Jake Gundry were well worth their goals against the spirited moorlanders. St Cleer were unlucky, Aaron, Josh and Torn deserved a goal for their skill and endeavour. Against a fast covering, firm tackling defence Saints took the knocks without complaint and kept battling to the end. They will play much worse and win!

Dan and Alex are a class act. Both are used to playing against older boys and their skill, strength and experience was manifest in all situations but the rest, what about them? They were a revelation. Dan was subbed off for a quarter, and then keeper for another. Alex too came off for a spell. The others were being asked to cope without them and how well they did! Dan Stevens, Matt Hutchens, and Ben Kingston made for a solid 'no nonsense' back line, and in midfield Piers Butel and William Tyrell Moore showed staunch commitment. Further forward, the smaller boys, Jake, Liam Smith, Kieran Hankin, and Nathan Clatworthy, were ferret eager. A little shooting practice and the goals will come. These cut down mini nets are hard to hit, especially with young Charlie between the posts.

"An excellent start," enthused the Liskeard manager. "The conditions were good, and so was the adult turnout." Liskeard have a qualified coach for this age group and also another pitch.
