Callington Colts are hosting the sixth James Gubbin Memorial football tournament sponsored by the China Fleet Country Club on Sunday 12th September at CalIington Community College.

This event is in memory of James Gubbin who sadly died in 1994 and was a keen member of the youth football club. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Camp Quality, the charity who arranges activity holidays for children suffering from terminal illnesses. James enjoyed one of these holidays the year before he died.

Teams from Chaddlewood, China Fleet Club, Saltash Utd, Southgate, Tamar Valley Thistles, Trophyman and St Cleer will be joining Callington to compete for the James Gubbin Memorial Trophy. There will be five age groups involved, Under IIs, Under 12s, Under 13s, Under-l4s and Under ISs The Club is one of the largest youth football groups in South East Cornwall with eight teams from Under lOs to Under lBs. We have 130 boys regularly playing league football, most of whom live locally in the Callington area.

"The last five events have raised a total of £4,000 for Camp Quality", said Chairman Rob Lloyd. "Our thanks to everyone involved including our sponsor and local businesses, we hope as many people as possible will support the day, to improve on last year's total of £850."

The tournament starts at 10 am with the presentation to the winning club at 4.30 pm.
