Top of the table St Dennis were pushed all the way by Saltash in an entertaining game which kept spectators on their toes until the final whistle. Ashes' enthusiasm surprised the home side with St Dennis unable to settle on the ball.

With the sides all square at the interval, it was Ashes who pressed forward with Jason Marks going close early in the second half. Ashes' defence looked to be in good shape with Jon Pidgen and Ryan Swiggs outstanding in a well-drilled rearguard. St Dennis 'keeper Paul Pethick pushed a worthy effort from Steve Best around the post. St Dennis achieved the breakthrough with 15 minutes remaining and it took a super goal from Richard Stoneman, firing in from 25 yards, out on the left. Not to be outdone, a cross-field ball picked out the unmarked Brian Banfield on the right and once again the finish was tremendous, hammering into the far corner of the goal from distance.

Saltash can take heart from this game with a good performance against a St Dennis side still sporting a 100% record.
