A draw was seen as a fair result in this match, sponsored by Polyne Garage. Tideford took the early initiative and they had reached a two-nil advantage before half-time.

The first came within a minute of the start with the visitors stone cold when Leroy Clarke sent a great cross in from the right flank which Ricardo Norville put away with virtually his first touch of the season. The second came in slightly more fortunate circumstances, with Norville claiming his and Tideford's second of the match, although the ball took a wicked deflection off Roberts in the Sticker defence along the way. However, Sticker steadily improved as the first half wore on and they were unlucky not to put one on the board before the break.

Tideford were forced into making two half-time substitutions through injury, with a third coming with half an hour left to play, and this appeared to aid Sticker. Some impressive play from the visitors eventually produced the goals which they so richly deserved, Paul Turner and Matt Crowle grabbing the important strikes midway through the half.

The home side also had a few chances, but they were unable to hit the target. Sticker had most of the play in the final quarter of the game, although the odd breakaway chance from the home side could have produced the vital finish. However, it could and should have been the visitors who took the honours, if only their front men had been able to stay on side.
