Trawler and dredge fishing could be banned in Whitsand Bay if a new byelaw is adopted.

The restriction on bottom-towed gear is being proposed by the Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (IFCA) in order to protect sea life in the Whitsand and Looe Bay Marine Conservation Zone.

The move is being supported by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and local environmentalists.

Members of the public are invited to comment on the byelaw until mid-February.
