Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service handed over £60,336, including the money raised from textile banks, to The Fire Fighters Charity.

Every year, thousands of firefighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is there for all fire service personnel during their times of need, and assists thousands of individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service   hold a range of events to help raise money for the charity.  These have included a tent sale, abseils, quiz nights, walks, and cake bakes and station participation in  The National Car Wash .

There are also clothes banks at Liskeard, Saltash, Looe, Callington and Torpoint stations.

Chief Fire Officer Paul Walker said: ’We are so proud of the amount of money that has been raised for The Fire Fighters Charity. Thank you to all staff and members of the public who have organised and supported events. We look forward to supporting the charity further over the next year.’
