Looe Valley Rotary Club members are looking forward to meeting tomorrow “face to face” on the day that restrictions lift.

The club has been meeting at the Hannafore Point Hotel for a number of years now, but through the pandemic has continued to maintain a good attendance on Zoom, and has managed to get together outside for activities including sponsored walks.

Now that in-person meetings will start up again, the club would love to see some new members join in – and there’s a huge variety of activities and events on offer, says club spokesperson Sam Hunt.

“You may have already spotted a Rotary tabard (these are optional!) or seen our logo in the community,” he said.

“Chances are, you’ve seen us, we’re at most local events, and we were even featured on the TV on the Devon and Cornwall series.”

There’s something to suit everyone, says Sam: the club has some keen open-water swimmers, and organises the popular annual Looe Island Swim.

Looe Valley Rotary members also stage a fishing match at Bake Lakes for charity, and have been regular volunteers at a local Parkinson’s support group.

The club is a great friendship group, says Sam, and regular activities each month include a social night which could be skittles, theatre, or a night away, and the club also welcomes people who would just like to help out at one-off events such as carnivals and Lights Up nights, when these start up again.

If you’re interested in finding out more, contact the club on Facebook or by email to [email protected].

Anyone interested in coming along to tomorrow’s meeting at the Hannafore Point Hotel, Looe would be welcome, says Sam: just pop a message to the club via the Facebook page. Drinks are at 7pm for a meal at 7.30.
