WEST Looe’s Quayside Centre will be the venue for some festive events and fundraising this weekend.

Tonight at the centre (Friday Dec 17) local choir Keltique will be giving their Christmas concert, starting at 7pm.

On Sunday, it’ll be the turn of the Polperro Fishermen’s Choir to provide live entertainment: they’ll be there and in fine voice from 2.30pm, raising money for local good causes.

Tomorrow (Saturday) a Christmas market on the harbourside in West Looe will be the chance to pick up a gift or seasonal goodies. There’s free parking in the harbour car parks and the market runs from 10am-3pm.

Look out while you’re there for the Looe Defibrillator Scheme stall. As well as selling a range of merchandise ideal for Christmas presents, the stall will be raising funds to extend the defibrillator contract for a further four years and provide lifesaving training for people in the community.

Looe has a total of 17 defibrillators, 14 of which are public access defibrillators funded by the local community with support from the South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust.

Since the equipment was installed in 2018, a number of Basic Life Support and Defibrillator training sessions have been provided to members of the public and local schools – and the units have been deployed to many incidents.

A campaign has begun to raise the £16,000 needed to extend the contract and provide continuing training.

As well as tomorrow’s stall at the Quayside Centre, street collections will be held in East Looe’s Rose Garden tomorrow (Saturday 18) and on Christmas Eve between 10am – 3pm.
