At a recent St Cleer and District Commoners Asso-ciation meeting concern was expressed by farmers at the increase in the number of dogs exercised on common land, in particular Foredown, Pensilva and St Cleer Downs.

Many farmers now make sure their farm dogs are wormed regularly and that cattle and sheep are not grazed on contaminated land. They fear that this is impossible to guarantee with other dogs using the land and are appealing to dog owners to be considerate and maintain a regular worming programme to avoid tape and lung worm larvae being deposited on moorland.
