Section A champion Fountain Lions finished the season in style, winning 11-7 away to Highway C, which also condemned the home side to relegation after only one season in Section A. Market are second despite losing to a resurgent Wheal Tor 12-6. London maintain third place as they win against St Neot A and win their postponed match against Police A.
St Neot, Legion B and Highway C are relegated. Con Club escape by games won. There was only a five point difference between fourth and eleventh place teams.
Fountain Lions were held at three-all against the Lions then lost the next three but came back to six-all before the Lions won five of the last six to take the game. Andy Maslem and Alan Wyatt, Paul Runnals and Ivan Olver all won four for the Lions. Bernie Hardy and Dave Exall won three with both other pairs winning two each for Highway C.
Wheal Tor's season ended on a high note with a convincing win over second place Market A. Wheal Tor opened by winning all the first round games and were never headed, finally winning 12-6. Maureen Skews and Tom Bolitho won five, Colleen Bolitho and Derek Hayward won four for Wheal Tor. Jim Kelly and Rob Trevarthen top scored for Market as the partners changed around.
London won the derby match against St Neot A. St Neot started well, going into a 4-2 lead. London the woke up and won 10 of the next 12 games to win 12-6 and give St Neot the wooden spoon. All pairs for London won four each. Dave Cock and Bob Strang won three for Institute.
London won their postponed match against Police A. London won every round except the last round 2-1 to record an 11-7 win. Dougie Knight and Larry Penter, Andrew Tamblyn and Brian Martyn all won four for the London. Phil Toms and Bill McGloughlin, John Waters and Andy Wallace all won three for the Police.
Legion B won against fourth place Highway A but their late run was to no avail. The games were level at three-all but Legion won seven of the next 12 to win 10-8. Clive Sargent and Trevor Keast won four with both other pairs winning three each. Ian Wilton and Simon Putt top scored for the Highway with four.
Police A needed to win against Dobsons to ensure their survival. Dobsons went 4-2 up but the Police responded by winning all three games in the third round. The Police then won the second half 5-4 to win 10-8. John Waters and Melvin Riglar top scored with five, Paul Mitchell and John Hoar won three for the Police. Steve Spearing and Mike Hutchings, Eric Andrew and Andy Powell all won three for Dobsons.
Garrision needed a win to be out of the relegation zone and won a tight match against Con Club. Con Club went 6-3 up but Garrison came back strongly to win seven of the last nine games and take the points. Terry Lobb and Trevor Burton won four with both other pairs winning three each. Steve and Gary won four, Val and Sue Pryor won three for Con Club.
In Section B White Horse finished the season in style with a demolition job at the Cheesewring. The games were level at three-all and then White Horse won 11 of the next 12 games to record a 14-4 win. Phil Kurn and George Keast won all six, Bernie Hoskin and Terry Kurn won five for the White Horse. Kevin Gregory and Eloise Coombs won two for the Cheesewring.
White Hart A won 11-6 away to the Fountain to confirm their second place on games won.
Market won 12-6 at home to White Hart B. The game was level at three-all but then the Market won nine of their last 12 games to run out 12-6 winners. L Lawrence and N White, John Vine and D Hines all won five for the Market. Pound and N Stewart top scored for the White Hart with three.
Legion A stormed into a 6-0 lead at the Barley but Barley A came back by winning eight of the last 12 games but to no avail as Legion took all the points. Derek Charge and Min Prisk won four with both other pairs winning three each. Pete Stewart and Duane Goode won four, Rich Freeman and Bill Denning won three for Barley A.
The Lord Eliot finished on a high, winning 12-6 away to the Police Club B. The Eliot soon went into an 8-4 lead and maintained it to win 12-6. Pete Cotterill and Bill Haynes five, John Bartlett and Ian Gill won four for the Eliot. All pairs won two each for the Police B.
Legion C started in style against Barket B by winning all the opening three rounds to lead 9-0 . Barley came back to win the second half 5-4 but the damage had been done as they lost 13-5. Sue Murray and Elaine Bendelow won all six, Jim Rodda and Brian Clift won four for the Legion C. Terry Falconar and John Howard, Jamie Sweetlove and Amanda Gilmore all won two for Barley B.
Legion C won their postponed match against Market B 10-8. The game was level at six-all but Legion won four of the last six to clinch the points. Chrissie Haynes and Brian Crabb won five, Sue Murray and Elaine Bendelow won four for Legion C. S and A Cooper won four with both other pairs winning two each.
Promoted teams are White Horse, White Hart A and Market B.
