Fountain Lions consolidate their lead at the top of Section A as they extend their winning run to four games. Nearest rivals Market lost their third match in a row. This time to third place London who move above then to second place. Highway A are in fourth place and Dobsons move up to fifth place.
Fountain Lions started quickly against Legion B winning the first three games. Legion B came back to 5-4 down before the Lions won seven of the last nine games to run out 12-6 winners. Rod and Ivan Olver won four, Andy Maslem and Alan Wyatt won five for the Lions. Bob Fricker and Les Dennis won three for Legion B.
London won the match against Market in the fifth round and then lost all the last three games to finish 10-8 winners. Dougie Knight and Larry Penter won five. Andrew Tamblyn and Brian Martyn won three for the London. Sonia Kelly and Bill Stephens, Mark Borlase and Graham Pengelly all won three for the Market.
Highway A's good form continued with an 11-7 win away to Police Club. Highway went into a 6-3 lead but Police came back to go into the last round 8-7 down only for Highway to win all the last three games to take all the points. Peter Anthony and Gerald MacDonald won five with both other pairs winning three each. Paul Mitchell and Phil Toms top scored for Police with four.
Dobsons were always ahead against Garrison and went into the last round 8-7 ahead. Dobsons then won all the last three games to record an 11-7 win. Eric Andrew and Andy Powell, Vic Bray and Colin Butler all won four for Dobsons. Terry Lobb and Trevor Burton, Chris Black-Borow and John Saunter all won three for Garrison.
Con Club went into a 5-4 lead over St Neot A but then the Institute won all three games in the fourth round to lead 7-5. The games were three-all for the last two rounds enabling the Institute to record a 10-8 win. Janet Hoskin and Pete Rowe won five for St Neot. Val and Sue Pryor top scored for Con Club with five.
Wheal Tor started out with a rush against Highway C by winning the opening three games. Highway C came back winning two of the next three but then the Whealers' won eight of the next 12 to run out 12-6 winners.
White Horse maintained their three point Section B lead over White Hart A. White Hart B lost and are in joint third place with Market B, Legion A and Fountain who all won.
White Horse lost two of the first three games and then won all the next five rounds 2-1 to record an 11-7 win over Lord Eliot. George Keast and Phil Kurn won five, Bernie Hoskins and Terry Kurn won four for White Horse. John Bartlett and Nina Haynes won four for the Eliot.
White Hart A recovered from their defeat against Market to win 11-7 away to Barley A. White Hart went 5-4 up and then won six of the last nine to take the points. B Bettison and K Allen won five, Taff Lewis and John Thomas won four for White Hart A. Lisa Haley and Bill Denning won three for Barley A.
Fountain stormed into a 9-3 lead away to White Hart B. Hart rallied to win four of the last six games but too late to prevent the Fountain winning 11-7. Chris Hocking and 'Fred' Markham, Lee Prout and M Pengelly all won four for the Fountain. T Pound and N Stewart scored most of the White Hart's games with five.
Market's good run continues with an 11-7 win away to Police B. Police went 7-5 up before the Market won all the last six games to take the points. N White and L Lawrence won five, both other pairs won three each. Ashley Crocker and Gary Cutter won three for Police.
Derby match of the week was between Legion A and Legion C. Legion A went into a 5-4 lead after three rounds. Legion C came back to six all before Legion A won five of the last six to record an 11-7 win. Colin and Lee Penwarden won five with both other pairs winning three each. Jim Rodda and Brian Clift, Sue Murray and Elaine Bendelow all won three for Legion C.
Knock-out Cup Semi-final - Highway C stormed into the finals with a 12-6 win over Barley A. Highway C went into a 10-2 lead after only four rounds. Barley came back winning four of the last six. Nigel Williams and Francis Julian, Dave Exall and Bernie Hardy, Michelle Wilton and Sharon Julian all won four for Highway C. Pete Stewart and Duane Goode won three for Barley.
