A TEACHER described by her pupils as a ‘real life princess’ has been recognised at a Cornish awards ceremony.

Kimberley Hawkings, who is head of Key Stage 1 at Sir Robert Geffery’s School in Landrake, was named ‘Outstanding Teacher of the Year’ at the Cornwall Teacher Awards.

The 31 year old, who lives in Saltash and who teaches the youngest pupils in the Reception Class, had been nominated by headteacher Julie Curtis and teaching assistant Jackie Hatton.

Judges at the awards ceremony in Truro said: ‘Some of Kimberley’s pupils say she is a ‘real life princess’ and others say she is ‘a great friend’.

‘Even the quietest child quickly shares their news with Mrs Hawkings, often surprising their own parents.’
