Students have been getting an insight into what it is like to run their own shop thanks to a new facility.

Vocational and work-related studies students at Cornwall College Saltash are working in a new college shop, which has been set up by the students for the students, aiming to enable learners to improve their employability, customer service and money handling skills.

They are responsible for checking the work rota, arriving to work on time and liaising with other students in a real workplace type environment.

Still in its early days the shop currently sells stationary, hand-made crafts, sweets and snacks, but the learners have plans for the range of stock to expand.
