The voices of almost 200 pupils from 28 primary and secondary schools across Cornwall rang out at County Hall in Truro yesterday when their school councils were recognised for their work in promoting democracy.

The children were presented with their Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Promoting Active Democracy Loudly Awards for their work in encouraging effective student voice and leadership in schools.

Award-winners included Tregadillet CP School – Bronze; Menheniot Primary School – Silver; Calstock CP School – Bronze; Liskeard Hillfont Primary School – Bronze; Stoke Climsland School – Silver.
