Young people in Cornwall have the chance to learn how to help others in an emergency with a relaunch of the Duke of Cornwall Community Safety Award.

The ground-breaking scheme was first launched in Cornwall after the response to significant flooding and aims to educate and train young people to assist before, during and after a crisis.

Cornwall Council is relaunching the award with a new website and leaders’ resources to help anyone that would like to take part to complete the three levels to earn certificates and badges. The scheme is open to anyone between the ages of five and 18.

The award raises awareness and teaches youngsters skills to prepare themselves, their family, community and neighbourhood for dealing with an emergency situation, and to respond appropriately.
