BBC Learning has launched a new campaign to improve literacy skills and encourage enjoyment in writing among primary school children in the West Country.
It’s teamed up with the National Literacy Trust, Comic Relief and Blue Peter for a new competition called BBC Red Nose Day Comedy Classroom.
Research by the National Literacy Trust in 2015 found nearly a third (31.4%) of key stage 2 pupils in the South West don’t enjoy writing.
The winners in each age category will see their jokes performed live on a special Red Nose Day Blue Peter programme in March.
