A positive coronavirus case has been confirmed at Looe Community Academy – but because of social distancing measures in place, no other children were identified as having been in close contact with the person concerned.
The school, like all others during the current national lockdown, is open only to vulnerable children and the children of keyworkers.
In a message on social media yesterday (Friday January 22), headteacher Scott Yalden said: “We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the academy; this was detected through our asymptomatic testing regime.
“We know that you may find this concerning, but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
“I can confirm that due to the well-established social distancing measures that we have in place, no children were in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus.
“The academy remains open to the critical key worker and vulnerable children and your child should continue to attend as normal if you are using that educare facility.”
