Mayor of Liskeard Jane Pascoe presented a cheque for £500 to Liskeard School and Community College business manager Paul Taylor.

The cheque completes the school’s fund-raising to reach the £3,000 needed to allow it to take part in the Greenpower Challenge to build a go-kart.

A team of students will now design a kart with a solar-powered motor to compete in the national competition which promotes engineering and green fuels.

The mayor is supporting the school’s STEM (science, technology and maths) agenda, helping it to raise funds for projects and equipment, and drumming up local business contacts and support.
