A drug detection dog has been taken to local secondary schools in the past few weeks to look for any illegal substances.
The move is a follow-up to PC Geoff Turner-Moore and his sniffer dog Jet being invited by the schools to attend assemblies.
PC Turner-Moore told students at the assemblies about the dangers of drugs as well as the criminal consequences of being caught with illegal substances.
Sgt Jo Williams, of Liskeard police, said: ‘The visits to all the secondary schools was intended to raise awareness of the job of police drug detection dogs.
‘At the same time, we were giving out the message that illegal substances and so-called legal highs are particularly harmful to young people whose brains and bodies are not yet fully developed.’
