CORNWALL College students who are eligible will be able to claim free school meals through the summer break.

The group, which has campuses across Devon and Cornwall, says it has been inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford’s succesful campaign to see the Government provide free school meals vouchers over the school holiday.

Students aged 16 to 18 enrolled at Cornwall College will now be able to benefit from this provision as well, said The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) CEO John Evans.

’We know how essential free school meals are, so we decided to run the scheme ourselves. With the impact coronavirus has had, the pressure on many households has never been greater,’ he said.

’Feeding our most vulnerable learners throughout the summer is a vital way we can serve the communities in which we operate.’

TCCG’s campuses include Duchy College in Stoke Climsland as well as Cornwall College campuses in Camborne, St Austell and Newquay.
