Drug warning over Liskeard man's death

A Liskeard man died in Derriford Hospital's kidney unit last Tuesday, in what police, who are awaiting toxicology tests, believe to be a heroin-related death. The 30-year old, of The Old Foundry, Roseland, had collapsed in a Plymouth street earlier in the day and police say that he may have used a high-purity heroin, similar to that which has claimed 10 lives in Bristol over the past two months.

Plymouth's drugs liaison officer dc Mike Bradley says that a stronger mix is more likely to cause fatalities to occasional or inexperienced users.

'Dealers are only out to make a profit and do not care what the strength is or what is in it,' he said.
