THE flurry of correspondence lately about Morrisons/Safeway prompts me to ask all shoppers not to forget your local shops and cafes. We work hard to provide as good a service as we can in the face of rising rates and rents, not to mention the growing stream of shoppers heading out of town. I also thought your article last week about the new traffic warden was sensationalist and unhelpful. If may have made people think twice about parking correctly but the reaction of a larger number I'm sure would be to avoid going to Liskeard. If someone needs to be railed against it is Caradon for not accepting that cheap parking rates, if only in one of our car parks, would create a totally different attitude towards support for local businesses. People need to feel they are welcome in their own town, not driven away by high parking charges. So please take some time to wander around Liskeard - parking 'correctly' of course! We all hope you'll be surprised at how much is there. Liskeard still has a soul - reach out for it while it's still there!
