Towns and villages in South East Cornwall will be coming together to mark Remembrance and to remember those who have lost their lives in war time.

Remembrance and Armistice Day commemorations will be taking place all over the district on November 10 and 11, with parades, wreath laying ceremonies and services.

Every year the Royal British Legion (RBL) calls on the nation to unite on Remembrance Sunday, and to support its Poppy Appeal to help veterans and serving military personnel and their families.

While the national service will take place at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London, on Sunday, countless acts of Remembrance will be held up and down the country, staged by local RBL branches.

Among the events set to take place in South East Cornwall are wreath laying and Remembrance ceremonies in each of the main towns. In Callington, Saltash and Liskeard, parades will form to march through the town centres to the respective war memorials.

In Liskeard, a Field of Remembrance will be opened on The Parade on Sunday, where members of the public can dedicate a message on a cross to a loved one.

Likewise in Tideford, crosses will be placed in the memorial garden and residents are invited to plant a cross in memory of a relative or friend.
