In a recent letter, a reader expressed doubts as to whether any scientist had made known their belief in biblical creation - as opposed to the theory of evolution - in the periodical, 'New Scientist.' Well as it happens, there are many eminent scientists who have done exactly that, but too many for me to be able to write all their names and comments in this letter.

To quote just one however, a top Russian scientist Dr. Dmitry A. Kuznetsov, recently visited the USA and told how he had been converted from evolution to creationism and from atheism to belief in Christ. He also spoke of his desire to start a creation-science research centre in Russia.

Dr. Kuznetsov, who holds the M.D.,Ph.D., and D.Sc. degrees, has published more than 40 technical papers on genetics, neuroscience and molecular biology in English language journals alone, including The New Scientist and others. His rejection of the 'chance theory' for 'special creation' has also been published.

The primary dilemma faced by Dr. Kuznetsov, and indeed all scientists in that field, is the total absence of transitional forms in any species at all. Whether it be Darwin's 'gradual change' theory, or the later 'punctuated equilibrium' theory (evolution by 'jumps'), there is absolutely no evidence to support it whatsoever.

Charles Darwin in his book, The Origin of Species (1859), wrote: 'The number of intermediate varieties which have formerly existed must have been enormous. Why then is not every geological formation full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated chain; and this, perhaps, is the most serious objection which can be urged against my theory.' Nothing has changed since that observation. In recent times, concerning assumed graduated links between reptiles and mammals, David Attenborough wrote, 'Nor is there any fossil evidence of any consequence about their ancestors. So we have virtually nothing to help us link these creatures with any group of fossil reptiles.' And again, concerning the supposed 'ape-human' link, leading scientist Lord Zuckerman wrote, "If man evolved from an ape-like creature he did so without leaving a trace of that evolution in the fossil record.' It is interesting to note that neither of these eminent figures are professing Christians or believe in the biblical record of creation.

The answer of course is in the book of Genesis, chapter one, which explains that each 'kind' or species God created had a rich gene pool, allowing for wide variation within these basic 'kinds', but there are strict boundary lines between the types which cannot be crossed. For any information on 'Creation Science,' I would happily oblige.
