Deputy Mayor praises Parade

I am glad to see there are some out there who appreciate the new look Parade in Liskeard.

I moved here 26 years ago in June, with apprehension, as it seemed so far away from civilisation, but I have grown to love the place even during the last six or seven years, with all the downs.

It is a lovely town, with a lot going for it, and, as I said in my address at the Mayor Choosing Ceremony, let us wait and see and to stop the negative criticism.

As I moved through the Parade in the carnival procession, it was lovely to see so many people who could relax and enjoy the carnival with so much more room for the pedestrians.

Also, at other times, to watch people sitting and enjoying the scenery and not worrying about playing dodgems with the traffic as they hurry from A to B.

Webbs will be improved, I feel sure, but, in the meantime, let us use our energy by putting forward suggestions to enhance the lovely town of Liskeard. Perhaps everyone working together to give the children a street party.

This includes the young people who find it necessary to ruin people's hard work on our Parade. The more they carry on, the more we use this money in repairs which could be put to better use.

Come on, let us be positive; we have so much to be grateful for.

Yours sincerely,

COUNCILLOR PAT AMBLER

Deputy Mayor, Liskeard
