No less than three in-house derbies took place this week and they produced some good games.

The best of these was at the Ship where the B were entertaining the A team. The B team drew first blood with Betty Turner beating Alan Winterson 2-0. George Wildman levelled for the A team beating Ben Oliver over the distance then Maggie Wildman and Jess Toms put the B's 3-1 up with wins over Billy Hayes and Alan Brown. Back came the A with wins for Ivor Williams and Stuart Butler over Justin Newman and Maureen Brown to leave the score at three all after the singles. The first two doubles were shared to leave an exciting finish where the A team just came out on top winning 5-4.

With the Noughts not playing, Pelynt B were looking a good result against stablemates Pelynt A and got anything but. The A team soon had a 2-0 lead with Dean Haynes taking out Max Facey and John Snowden beating Nigel Davis. Baz Phillips stopped the rot followed by Rat Tamblyn, Patch Gray and Martin Dunn to give the B team a 4-2 lead. The impressive Haynes and Snowden made it 4-3 but Phillips and Tamblyn won the next to secure the win. The A team won the last doubles to make the final scoreline 5-4 to Pelynt B.

The Rowett B avenged their earlier defeat to the Rowett A team with a comprehensive 7-2 victory. The B team won five of the singles through Darren Thomas, Mike Pengelly, Dennis Shaw, Dave Nutty and Roger Pill. Mark Lewis gained the A team's only singles point and the doubles went to the reigning champions 2-1 for an excellent win.

The Millhouse entertained the Caradon and found themselves 4-2 up after the singles with wins from John Gregory, Mick Knight, John Yaxley and Chris Sargent. Tom Fellows and Peter Paris replied for the Campers. The Millhouse then won the one doubles they needed for a good 5-4 victory.

The Legion entertained the Blue Peter and had a comfortable 7-2 win. The Legion won four of the singles with wins from Ken Crowden, Bob Whitewood, Paul Blower and Dick Hinton. Monica Field-Johnson and Terry Bicknell got the Blues' two points in the singles.

This Thursday 9th March the Charity Singles take place at the Noughts and Crosses. No entries after 8pm. Please remember all monies raised are for charity and therefore the more players, the more money.

The final of the Knockout Cup between the Noughts and Crosses and Pelynt B takes place on March 18th at the Rowett Institute. As with previous matches the date cannot be changed.
