Four police enquiry offices in South East Cornwall will close but officers stress the stations will remain open.

Devon and Cornwall Police announced this week that enquiry offices in Callington, Looe, Saltash and Torpoint will shut following a review. The police enquiry office in Liskeard will remain open with extended hours.

Superintendent Craig Downham, police commander for East Cornwall, said: 'I think there will be concerns locally but this isn't about closing police stations, that's a misconception. Each station will still have a wall phone to contact officers.'

PC Helen Libby of Looe said: 'While the loss of the front counter at Looe Police Station is disappointing, the footfall through the office has declined over recent years with most contact with the police now being made over the phone.'
