CHRIS Cuming, of Callington, scored the biggest win of his stock car career on Sunday, when he won the highly-prized Formula Two Nationals Trophy, at Smeatharpe, near Honiton.

In the random draw for grid positions, Cuming selected 12 out of 26.

After a chaotic start to the race, Cuming soon emerged as a leading contender, and soon established himself in the lead, before clinching victory ahead of former World and British Champion, Barry Goldin of Bolton.

The race carries a unique prize, for the Formula Two Nationals Trophy is a hand-crafted replica of a Stock Car.

Jeweller Jon Padget made the magnificent trophy in 1994, at a cost of £2,500, which gives an indication to its current value.

Cuming will be back at Smeatharpe on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, for the circuit's latest Formula Two Stock Car fixture.

The next target on Cuming's agenda will be to try to secure the Smeatharpe Track Championship.  He currently leads the table, with four meetings remaining.
