Good news for anyone crossing the Tamar this Christmas.

Tamar Bridge tolls will be suspended on Christmas Day (from midnight) but drivers are asked to drive carefully through the toll booths as there may be bridge staff crossing.

The Torpoint Ferry is also free on Christmas Day and there will be a number of changes to the schedule during the festive period.

The half hourly night service, from 9.30pm to 6.30am, will remain unchanged. On Christmas Eve the service will drop back to half hourly from 8pm. Christmas Day’s sailings will be half hourly and, on Boxing Day, December 27 and 28, two ferries will be providing a 15-minute service between 6.30am and 9.30pm. From Saturday December 29 to New Year’s Eve there will be a normal weekday service and, on New Year’s Day, there will be two ferries running a 15 minute service between 6.30am and 9.30pm.
