Cricket- Professionals in county remains a contentious issue
The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League Management Committee has held an Informal meeting at Truro with representatives from the County Division One, Two and Division Three clubs where professionalism in the Cornwall League was discussed.
The subject, which has been a contentious issue for a number of years was given a lengthy debate. Delegates voiced their views on the merits, for and against, of professionals and /or overseas players playing in the league.
Also discussed were the alleged accusations that other players receive payments or benefits in kind which contravene the present league rules which were generally accepted as not being policeable.
Delegates were asked to return to their clubs to further discuss the subject. The Management Committee at their next meeting will discuss the points raised with a view to possibly making formal proposals for rule changes during the winter.
