Cricket - Mixed fortunes for Cheesewring on their mini tour

Cheesewring CC have just returned from a mini tour to North Somerset. On the Saturday they played a team on tour from Rowlands Castle neat Portsmouth.

After a shaky start Dave Colwill came up trumps with 58 helping Cheesewring to a total of 139. Fearing the worst when their opponents went into bat, they soon had cause to cheer when first Andy Southcott (4-12) and then Ken Furse (3-14) got amongst them and skittled them out for 39.

On Sunday Cheesewring came down to earth with a bump when they visited Timberscombe. Batting first they were soon in dire trouble losing the first four wickets for nine runs.

John Humphrey and Ken Furse came together and held out for awhile. Then John was out and Dave came to the rescue again as he made a rapid 42. Ken batted steadily before getting out on 49. A meagre total of 135-8 proved comfortable for Timberscombe who topped the visitors total for the loss of two wkts.

All in all an enjoyable time was had by all.
