At the Eastern Section Annual Meeting of the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall League, held at Bodmin, clubs were warned that the league intends to take a stricter line in the future regarding the standards of grounds and, in particular, facilities.
A minimal standard in all divisions will be expected with clubs failing to comply possibly facing demotion or in extreme cases expulsion from the league from the end of next season. All promotions for the 2000 season were allowed but clubs were reminded that following recommendations from the grounds committee two team, Crofty and Barripper, had not been promoted in the western section.
The composition of divisions for next season saw a fewer than normal number of relegations. The withdrawals of Bugle II's (Div Seven) prior to the season and St Lawrence Hospital, who would have been automatically relegated (despite finishing seventh in Division Six) for not raising teams on three or more occasions meant that numbers had to be made up in the lower divisions.
An application from Grampound III's to join the league was rejected by the clubs owing to uncertainty about their prospective third XI home venue. With only seven teams in Division Eight it was agreed for this division to play each other on three occasions rather than twice.
