Penzance started their innings in poor light and with rain in the air. Luckett had to bowl with a very wet ball and this was to prove costly for them as they put down several chances, with R Ward and C Nicholls putting on 156 between going in and out for rain stoppages. Ward was first to go, and he was very well caught by Brian Robins at point for 59 that included four fours. Nicholls went right after four 84, including seven fours and two sixes. As the rain came in once more this time umpires Mick Hill and Alan Howarth called the the game off.
Nick Carter, rep for the Jolly's Drinks Cricket league presented the cups to the two teams after thanking Lanhydrock for the use of their ground and the way the game had been played by both teams. The rain was to be the only winner however, as he felt both teams still had a chance to win - it could have been an interesting ending. The two teams are to hold the overall winners cup for six months each.
