Cricket- County Semi-Final, Sun Life of Canada ECB National Cup

Truro v Callington

Travelling to the den of the young Truro lions as rain clouds gathered, Callington batted against the home side's lightning attack.

Again helped immensely by Adam Hodgson, the visitors stiffened with Mike Vanstone prominent in a big stand. Despite a few later batsmen forgetting basics, Callington's final total became challenging - but then the rain came!

Sensationally, Will Craven removed a County player, then a West player in successive overs: battle was joined! As the Atlantic relocated in quantity, it seemed that Callington's bowlers were lambs to be slaughtered by England international Adam Barber.

Sportingly, the Callington boys trudged on as Truro flew towards their target. Then hero Will struck again dismissing Barber. A mood akin to panic accompanied the new batsmen to the wicket and the hour raised another hero: Russ Holloway bowled three 'death' overs with uncanny accuracy, conceding just six runs, taking a wicket and enticing two batsmen to suicidal run-outs. The 'lambs' were roaring and Truro slipped to surprisingly ill-natured defeat.

Scores - Callington 108-7 (A. Hodgson 67, M. Vanstone 15, D. Martin 3-16, A. Barber 2-8, D. Wills 2-29). Truro 105-8 (A. Barber 55, S. Cocket 21, W. Craven 3-20).

Callington won by 3 runs to reach the County Final.
