Cricket- County Division Three

St Minver v Luckett

Luckett put up a very good fight, despite missing several key players for various reasons, when they travelled to St Minver. Their bowlers and fielders did well on a very fast wicket to keep the score down to 237 and it could have been a lot less if one or two chances had been taken.

Once again, Rob Hawkins was to be a thorn in Luckett's side, scoring 61. The other main scorer was K Daley with 55. Luckett's wicket takers were John Schutkacker (4-59), Adrian Berry (2-44) and his father, Roger with 2-36.

In reply, Chris Bowden and make-shift opener John Schutkacker put on 59 for the first wicket, with John scoring a useful 24. Bowden managed 37 soon after, but Luckett then lost the two wickets of Adrian Berry and Paul Sidey quite cheaply, and perhaps that was the turning point in Luckett's reply.

Captain Dave Brown then out together an innings of 42 before being the seventh wicket to fall at 153, still needing seven more runs for an extra batting point. Roger Berry (six), Gordon Finch (10), colin Penhorwood (11 n.o.) and 14 year-old Adrian Robins (5 n.o.) helped Luckett to a final score of 187-9 in their 48 overs. The wicket takers for St Minver were Don Brown (3-47), Shawn Hawkin (4-43), Steve Bennetts (1-21) and Ray Butler (1-1). The game was played without league umpires, but very much in the best of spirits.
