Callington gained revenge over Luckett in the second eclipse match with a narrow eight-run win in a pulsating encounter.
On being asked to bat, Callington openers Trevor Collins and Andrew Shorten found the going tough against John Schutkacker and Adrian Warne. Despite the variable bounce, they added 52 before Matt Perry trapped Shorten for 32. Collins and Vic Voyzey took the score to 98 and with nine wickets and 17 overs left, Callington look to be in control.
But as we all know, cricket is funny game and an inspired spell by Adrian Berry brought Luckett back into the game. He destroyed the Callington middle order and when Collins went for a masterful 40, Callington had collapsed to 114-7. Luckily, Steve Blatchford had his eye in and his 18 helped Callington finish on 140 with Berry being the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-28.
Luckett's reply against Jon Nicholls and Mark James became a head-down-and-build-a-score as, after 24 overs, they stood at just 40-2. Berry and Paul Sidey were the two at the wicket and they began to score more freely and bring Luckett on the brink of victory. When Berry fell to Simon Fitze for 42, Luckett were in the driving seat but then Fitze and Ian Hunn destroyed the Luckett middle-order to bring Callington back in to the game.
Despite all the chaos around him, Sidey was still there and the last over saw Luckett require 10 runs to win with two wickets left. Sidey then launched Hunn towards the boundary and Voyzey took a breath-taking catch to give Callington a victory in a finale worthy of match at Lords. Sidey had made 42 and Hunn and Fitze finished with 4-32 and 4-40 respectively.
