The prospects of Cornish Cricket in the future can only be tremendous after an excellent display of talent, determination and sportsmanship from the young players of both sides.
Liskeard once again lost the toss and were ordered to field. O'hara batted superbly for a fine 72 and was well supported by the rest of the Saints line up. Marchant had little luck but it was Pook who claimed the scalps celebrating his first five-wicket haul of the season. Chasing another 200+ total Liskeard's youngsters rose to the challenge. Will Andrew's debut as Taylor's opening partner saw the former smash a mature 39 in their stand of 70. Hine and Marchant chipped in but Wallbank's spin was far too tempting for the majority of the Liskeard victims. Simon Terry and Paul Hooper led the nail biting finish. An outstanding unbeaten 70 partnership by the schoolboys left the away side just seven runs short at the death. Both teams were a credit to their youth development officers who deserve gold medals for their efforts.
