Stoke entertained Lanhydrock on Saturday looking to avenge the 38 run defeat from the previous week. Captain Maunder won the toss and elected to bat.

Sturtridge and Smart opened for Lanhydrock and set off at some pace. The 50 was reached in the 12th over without loss and a huge total looked on the cards.

With 134 being the best first innings total at Stoke all season, 50-0 from 12 overs looked a wonderful start. However at 61 Stoke obtained a fortunate lbw decision on Smart and the wickets began to tumble.

Only 23 runs came in the next 18 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. A stand of 36 between Sloggett and Smith boosted the total as Lanhydrock limped to 125 all out. Sturtridge (45), Sloggett (21) and Smith (11) were the only three batsmen to reach double figures, whilst Maunder 4-28 and Parker 2-34 were the pick of the bowlers.

In reply Maunder and Rundle opened the batting. Maunder was fortunate to survive a good lbw shout in the first over and was soon dropped at the wicket, these scares aside the openers put on 98 before Rundle was bowled for 19. Maunder soon followed for streaky 55 with many runs coming to the third man boundary. It was left to Lambert (16 no) and Firth (13 no) to finish it off with some lusty blows and 12 overs to spare.

Sadler bowled well, conceding just 36 runs from his 16 overs whilst Sturtridge picked up both wickets to cap a fine all all match.

Scores - Lanhydrock 125 (Sturtridge 45, Sloggett 21, Maunder 4-28). Stoke 128-2 (Maunder 53, Rundle 19, Sturtridge 2-31).
