Cricket- County Division Four (East)

Colan v Liskeard

What a difference a day makes. Liskeard fielded a weakened side due to players unavailable to commit themselves to playing two games over the weekend. Rained off games are a problem for most clubs and many are calling for the rules to be changed. Liskeard won the toss and elected to bat Hyslop and Marchant giving the visitors a steady start putting on 84 for the first wicket until the latter was out for 19. Hyslop again batting sensibly had several partnerships. White and Skews 24 and 20 respectively both scoring quickly but the star was Hyslop with a splendid 75 running himself out on the last ball with the total on 197 for 8.

With so many front line bowlers missing the task of bowling Colab out was always going to be hard and the way the home side started this proved to be so. All four of tbe Colan batsmen took the fight to the bowlers and won it easily passing the visitors score with ease for the loss of one wicket with one batsmen retiring. The best was J Philhps with an unbeaten 73. This result just proves the problem Liskeard have in fielding a competitive side for rearranged fixtures.
