The first episode of Looe's double match weekend was played at their home

venue, Killigarth. Early inspection suggested that there could be something in the pitch for a team choosing to bowl first. Losing the toss, Looe were duly put into bat, and with the opening partnership of H Balman and G Pryce-Hughes, the runs began to flow consistently. First blood went to Eldridge, having Balman caught on twelve in the third over, with the Looe total on 16.

The case was similar throughout the afternoon as far as the Looe batting line-up was concerned, earning early runs but not staying around long enough to get established. With the exception of Giles Lane landing himself with a duck! With the tail wagging Looe's total had reached 120 from only 28 overs. Jamie Lewis looked good for his 19, and Eldridge was the pick of the St Neot bowlers finishing with figures of 3-29.

Starting before tea, Looe were eager to stop the confident St Neot side in their tracks, and with a superb run out in the second over orchestrated by Richard Balman, this eagerness had started to pay off. Looe's bowling attack took on the shape of the captain Nick Alan, displaying all the precision of a top class bowler, and reaming with animosity, Alex "Paceman" Joyce exhibiting all the characteristics of an Edgbaston reject. Wrapping up in the 27th over St Neot were all out for 61. R Fraser fought hard for his 16, and Joyce returned figures of 5-38
