Cornwall League Division Seven (East)
St Austell IV v Callington IV
While the visitors could again claim to have been 'skeletal', St Austell stuck to their task much better in this clash of the Ivies.
Callington struck early, even with shower-wetted ball, with Rich Trent and Will Craven quite heroic in breaking the back of the St Austell batting. Too many loose balls crept in for choice and the Saints had the clout to put them away hard. A final all-out total of 132 should not have been too steep.
Unfortunately, Callington did not have clout and too many early order stars departed too soon for graft to win the day. Reeling at 15-5, Callington could only salvage pride which, on a still tricky pitch, was difficult in itself.
